Heavy storm caused interruptions in the electricity supply in southwestern Macedonia

14.02.2018

A storm with heavy rains and snowfalls caused interruptions in the electricity distribution in the Southwestern part of Macedonia. Part of the settlements in the mountain regions of Ohrid, Struga, Kichevo, Gostivar, the Reka region, Mavrovo and a few mountain villages in the Tetovo region were left without power supply. Yesterday, the teams of EVN Elektrodistribucija fixed the outages in most of the affected areas apart from some places where the snowdrifts and landslides made those areas inaccessible. From this morning the teams of EVN are constantly on the field and as the outages are fixed, the power supply in those areas is restored. EVN activated all available resources, both human and material, in order to handle the consequences of the bad weather. The winter terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and all equipment is put in service to the professional teams so they can break through the most critical and inaccessible places. EVN Elektrodistribucija is in constant coordination with the other energy companies that are part of the energy system in the country in order to overcome the problems caused by the storm.
