12.11.2025

The Meter Inspection Body for electricity meters at Elektrodistribucija, accredited according to international standards and responsible for the metrological testing of electricity meters, was visited today by the Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Mrs. Sanja Božinovska.

This body performs verification of meter accuracy upon customer request. Its work includes regular and extraordinary meter inspections, metrological control of their quality, and extraordinary inspections (A-tests) to ensure accuracy, reliability, and transparency in measuring consumed electricity.

The visit followed the completion of the 13th regular supervisory assessment conducted by the Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Bureau of Metrology under the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, which once again confirmed this year that the Meter Inspection Body fully meets the requirements of the international standard MKS EN ISO/IEC 17020.

Minister Sanja Božinovska, accompanied by the Director of the Bureau of Metrology, Mr. Sedad Rushani, toured the laboratory facilities, including seven modern testing stations produced by the German company EMH. They met the professional team that ensures precise, reliable, and transparent metrological testing of meters on a daily basis.

“Our country has highly qualified laboratories operating in line with the highest international standards. Accurate meter testing is a key factor in building consumer trust, as every citizen must be confident that they are paying for the actual energy consumed.

The results of the latest supervisory assessment confirm that the Meter Inspection Body at Elektrodistribucija is an example of professionalism and transparency.

Such laboratories must be modern, certified, and credible, so that citizens know there is a place where they can verify the accuracy and reliability of their meters. This is a matter of fairness, trust, and public interest,” said Minister Božinovska.

The management team of Elektrodistribucija emphasized that the company will continue to invest in technology development and expert training to maintain the high precision and objectivity of its meter testing processes in accordance with the highest quality standards.

Since its first accreditation in 2012, the Meter Inspection Body has successfully renewed its accreditation before the country’s top institutions, always receiving positive evaluations.

“At Elektrodistribucija, we invest in knowledge, technology, and systems that ensure precision and objectivity in the meter testing process. In this work, every detail matters—from the most advanced equipment to the expertise of the team behind each inspection,” stated the management team of Elektrodistribucija.

During the visit, the Elektrodistribucija team gave a detailed presentation of the technologies, procedures, and methodologies applied in carrying out the inspection and metrological testing activities of electricity meters.
